BASIC INFORMATION
fromis9 (프로미스나인) are a 9 membered South-Korean girl group formed by the survival show Idol School. They were previously managed by Stone Music Entertainment but later changed to Off The Record Entertainment. They are NOT a temporary girl group, they have a contract for seven years in which they can renew.
Idol School was a survival show which aired in the summer of 2017 which was produced by MNET. The show contained 40 contestants who gradually got eliminated until the top 9 was formed in the last episode. The show has 11 episodes in total.

The name “fromis_9” has two meanings:
1. from idol school
2. The name pronounced in Korean sounds like “promise” meaning that they have a promise to be the best girl group.
The underscore has no meaning but the 9 represents the amount of numbers.

JANG GYURI FACTS:
-Gyuri was a contestant on Produce 48 and Ranked 25th (she didn’t participate in DKDK promotions)
-Gyuri is close to LOONA’s Chuu, IZONE’s Yuri and Hyewon.
-She never had any trainee experience (hence her joining PD48)
-Gyuri was casted for tvn D’s web drama called “Dating Class” she plays the role of “Kang Jiyoung”
-Gyuri studied in Virginia for a year and can speak a little bit of english
-Gyuri’s father works in the military and she says her father influenced her way of speech

-Jiwon is friends with (G)I-DLE’s Miyeon (Miyeon cheered for her when Jiwon was on Idol School)
-Jiwon used to be a calm and quiet person but became more outgoing when she started to take music lessons
